Folkpartiet's political proposals are based on each and every one of us having the freedom and possibilites to try and make our dreams of a good life come true. We believe in everyone's ability to think rationally and follow her own conscience. The aim of politics should be to eliminate barriers and to create opportunities – not dictating how we ought to live our lives. Political decisions must never replace the personal responsibility.
Since the beginning of the 20th century, Folkpartiet and its forerunners have worked to make liberal ideals come true in Sweden. We fought for universal suffrage – for both men and women. The cornflower, the symbol of our party, was also the flower used by the suffrage movement.
