How Folkpartiet is organised
The local branch, as the party’s channel for close contacts with its members, is the base of the party organisation. It is also the members of the local branch who maintain direct contacts with the public.
Folkpartiet usually has a regional party in each county, called "länsförbund". Adopting political manifestos for the county, as well as fixing the lists for the elections, are important tasks to be undertaken by the regional parties.
Folkpartiet’s national party consists of the following statutory bodies: the Congress, the national board and the executive. Secretary-General Johan Jakobsson is the head of the national party.
The Congress – "landsmöte" – is the highest decision-making body within the party. It decides on programmatical issues and elects the national board.
The Party Board – "partistyrelse" – is led by party leader Lars Leijonborg, and decides on party activities between congresses. The board also draws up guidelines for the party’s policies.
The Party Executive – "partiledning" – is the executive body of the party board, responsible for day-to-day issues.
Affiliated organisations
Folkpartiet liberalerna has two affiliated organisations: Liberal Women (LK) and the Liberal Youth of Sweden (LUF).
LK and LUF each have one representative in the national board of the party. LK appoint two delegates at the party congress, whereas LUF has three delegates.
