Marit Paulsen is Member of the European Parliament for the Swedish Liberal Party, part of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE).

In the European Parliament she is the Vice-Chair of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development. She is also Member of the Delegation for relations with Iran and Substitute Member in the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety.
She was the Vice-President of the Swedish Liberal Party (Folkpartiet) between 2000 and 2006. She holds a Doctorate of Technology, honoris causa (1995) and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, honoris causa (2004).

She was born on 24 November 1939 in Oslo, Norway.
