I am joining with citizens from around the world to appeal for the release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and all of Burma's political prisoners.
She has now spent a total of almost eleven years under arrest.She has been imprisoned for peacefully calling for democratic reform in Burma. She has the respect and support of people throughout the world for her peaceful resistance in the face of oppression.
Aung San Suu Kyi and so many other political prisoners remain in detention.
I urge the State Peace and Development Council to release Aung San Suu Kyi and all of Burma's political prisoners. There can be no progress in Burma while Aung San Suu Kyi is not free.
