Folkpartiet liberalerna (fp) is the Liberal Party of Sweden.

Since the 2010 election, Folkpartiet has 24 seats in the Riksdag and is also represented by three Members of the European Parliament, in the liberal ALDE Group.

With branches all over Sweden, Folkpartiet is represented in all county councils and in just about every municipal council throughout the country. Jan Björklund, Minister for Education and Schools is leader of Folkpartiet.

Alliance for Sweden

Folkpartiet forms part of Alliance for Sweden, a four-party alliance with a common platform for the 2010 elections. The other parties in the Alliance are the Moderates (m), the Christian Democrats (kd) and the Centre Party (c).

The Liberal Movement

A number of organisations are connected to Folkpartiet. The Liberal Youth of Sweden – LUF, gathers young people in the fight for liberalism. Liberal Students – LS, is our students’ network at universities and colleges. 

Our international cooperation

Folkpartiet is one of the founding members of Liberal International, an umbrella

organisation of more than 90 liberal parties. Its aim is to strengthen liberal democracy worldwide. Through our membership in the European Liberal Democrats – ELDR, Folkpartiet cooperates with liberals across Europe formulating liberal policies for the EU.

SILC, the Swedish International Liberal Centre, is an independent foundation aiming to strengthen voices for change in countries dominated by dictatorship and censorship, through assistance to democratic movements.
